and a Happy Pisces New Moon to you

Heads up Pisces

Heads up Pisces folks.  Actually heads down–it seems that the sign Pisces rules the feet and many of my Pisces pals are tripping over things and having to slow down…it is a silly thing to say to a Pisces, but as a Capricorn I’ll do it anyway–“watch where you are going”

Always on the lookout for places you might go to learn or be inspired, I went to find Dana Gerhardt’s words on the moon.  I always want to read what Dana writes.  You will want to head on over to a great site for this and other articles called The Meta Arts Magazine or to Dana’s site MoonCircles.com

Pisces New Moon: Call and Response
by Dana Gerhardt

It’s another new moon: when the magically minded make wishes and astrologers attempt to divine this cycle’s intentions. But fates are personal. Even if a new moon chart could be forced to describe them all, no single astrologer could tell that many stories. The wishes you make now may indeed be super-powered, but if you don’t have a strong relationship with the archetypes, don’t expect special favors. If you rarely sip tea with your quirky neighborhood psychic, don’t expect her to throw rings of protection around your house. New Moons are potent times to forge alliances with the gods. Visit the invisible world. Bow and open yourself to their touch. Make an offering. Humans have been rendezvousing with these archetypes for thousands of years. When you call out to the gods, they do respond!

Calling Pisces

Pisces plays the mandolin and wears sky blue shirts that smell like lavender or sometimes roses. When he visits, you might hear snow melting. Tulips and daffodils poke their heads above ground to greet him, while starlings dream of their future: finding a soul mate, nest-building, teaching their young to fly. Pisces’ mother used to worry about him. He’d spend long hours alone in his room. Whenever she pressed her ear to the door, holding a bowl of soup or grilled cheese sandwiches, she would hear strange voices, sometimes sobbing, maybe a violin, or a trilling bird. One year he drew a thousand portraits of clouds. Next year he took up face painting, until every kid in the neighborhood had become twelve fantastic animals. The year after that he spoke just one word: “Ah.” He studied poetry and took long naps in college. Later he tried the corporate world, but missed too many meetings. One day he kidnapped the shipping department and took them to a matinee just before Fed-Ex arrived.  read more at: Meta Arts

~oh ho the wells fargo wagon and the VAN are comin~

When my sister and I were kids we would dance in front of the mirror — and sing–really really LOUD, songs from various musicals.  One of them was The Wells Fargo Wagon –you know–from The Music Man.  We were great–no really–and we got into the songs.  With this one we really believed that something great was gonna happen.  Something was coming. We had to believe it in order to be the stars we knew we were meant to be.  We still watch the Oscars and plan acceptance speeches.

me and my sis

Something big could be coming! That is how I feel when one of Bernadette Brady and Darrelyn Gunzberg’s VANs arrive in my mailbox.   “VAN” stands for Visual Astrology Newsletter and these two remarkable scholars have been putting this out every month for I think something like 6 years!  Like a practice they write and share knowledge about our night sky.

They do their “homework” and speak about the way the “priest/astrologer” in Mesopotamian times would have seen the story playing out on that silver screen called the night sky.  What a stage!  What lights! What action!  (ok I’ll stop).

I know there was no musical theater playing songs that my sister and I would sing to, but I do experience the anticipation waiting for the VAN to arrive. I stop what I’m doing and print it out and read it.  I want you to know about this newsletter and those times — when the sky was present and up close and personal.  One great way to do that is to follow Bernadette and Darelyn’s lead, subscribe to and read the VAN.  You just might feel like singing.

Well–maybe that’s just me.

But check it out anyhow.

This month Bernadette addresses The Arab World and the Jupiter Saturn cycle

The 40 Jupiter Saturn conjunctions and their movement through the signs via the elements.

Um—Definitely NOT a musical.  But good grief–talk about a drama playing out in our lifetime.

PICTURING THE COSMOS: We will explore The Great Lights: the Sun, The Moon and The Fixed Stars and their appearances in art, music, and politics over the ages.

About the first class:

When we see the images (yes we will be looking at art) something resonates, memories emerge, questions arise, something is recognized—we ‘feel’ something.  The myths and stories that the sky has inspired from the Cave drawings to the Impressionists and beyond enter our psyche’s and we see that we “know” more than we thought.

We may feel “known” as well.

We become connected and perhaps inspired.

INSPIRATION– in·spi·ra·tion

  • Physiology-the drawing of air into the lungs
  • Stimulation for the human mind to creative thought or to the making of art
  • Divine guidance and influence on human beings

Using Art and Astrology as our stepping stones, we will look at your charts to discover where you can look for creativity, air, guidance, and access to inspiration.

Contact Claudia if you would like to register for all or part of the series:
